Privacy Policy

The short version: RogueTyper has no ads, no analytics trackers, and no interest in your data beyond running the game. We do not sell or share personal information with anyone, for any purpose. Here is the long version.

Playing without an account

You can play the entire game without signing in. In that case, everything – your Ink, unlocks, and settings – is stored only in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard, short-lived server logs that include IP addresses, as virtually all web hosting does; we do not use these to identify or profile players.

If you create an account

We collect the minimum needed to run fair leaderboards:

  • Your email address – used only to sign you in (magic link, or via Google sign-in if you choose it). It is never displayed publicly, never used for marketing, and we send no newsletters.
  • Your handle – the name you choose, shown on public leaderboards.
  • Your runs– when you finish a run while signed in, we store its results and the run's input log (which keys were pressed at which game-ticks). This log is the anti-cheat: the server replays it to verify your score is real. It describes gameplay only – it contains nothing you typed outside the game.
  • Game progress – your Ink balance, unlocks, and lifetime stats, so they survive across devices.

Who processes this data

Two infrastructure providers process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication) and Vercel(hosting). Both are bound by their own data processing agreements. Data is hosted in the United States. We share personal data with no one else – no advertisers, no data brokers, no "partners".

Cookies and local storage

We set no advertising or analytics cookies. Your sign-in session and game progress are kept in your browser's local storage, used solely to keep you signed in and keep your saves. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Do we sell or share personal information?

No. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or any other consideration – so there is nothing to opt out of under the CCPA/CPRA's "Do Not Sell or Share" provisions. If that ever changed, this policy would change first and a link would appear in the footer.

Your rights

Wherever you live – under the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, or similar laws – you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Deleting your account removes your profile, progress, and all stored runs (leaderboard entries go with them). Email us and we'll action it within 30 days; we may ask you to confirm the request from the email tied to the account. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Retention

Account data and runs are kept while your account exists, because they are the leaderboard. Server logs rotate on our providers' standard short schedules. Everything tied to your account is deleted when the account is.

Children

RogueTyper is a general-audience typing game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; an email address is only ever collected to create an account. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
